i have a 125 reef now. want to get an aggressive. im picking up a 250 long at thanksgiving. my question is can i have a 250 reef and my 100 now change to an aggressive monuted underneth the reef kinda like a fuge? so it would be a 250 reef and a 100 aggressive fuge? or would filtration be an issue. im runniong a 20 gal refugrium and 2 fluval canisters and 2 180 skimmers? any ideas???

Don't use the agressive as a fuge. They are heavy wasters and that water would not do your reef any good IMO no matter what filtration you have. Just my .02

I wouldn't try this agresive fish produce a ton of waste. and it could make it harder to keep your reef healthy. What do you plan on putting in your agresive tank?

im in love with anglers. and groupers. mabye an eel and some lobsters. i have 2 chocolate chip stars in my reef now and i keep missing shrooms and zoos. i would eat those stars for dinner but the wife loves them. she wants a dog face and a huma trigger.

I agree, i dont see one benifit from having an agressive (lots of waist) tank as a fuge, but i do see many problems from doing this, like pollution from heave waist...
also, if your agressive tank is underneath...how do you plan on viewing your agressive tank?
humm...
personal i would keep then seprate, and you really dont need a fuge in the first place, some people may swear by them, but ive never run one, and test 0's across the board...
the key is low fish bioload...but if you really want to spend more money go for it.
goodluck

i think there is only one way for this idead of yours to work, you would need to have the reef with a lot of live rock and live sand. then in the 100 you would need to make it a FOWLR and also have live sand in it. Then instead of agressive you can think of mabye like community with mabye like 1 bigger fish like a tang. you would also need to make sure that you get a really good protein skimmer and you would need good lights on the FOWLR so you can grow a nice amount of algea to take the nutrients out.
thats the only way this set up has a chance IMO.
