The colors of the coral, and you feel more accomplished that you can keep fish AND coral, which isn't the easiest thing sometimes.

Being hungry because you cant buy food because you spent $500 on a new light... :joy: J/K...To see the coral grow and get more with some wild colors is an amazing feat..

I think, with a reef tank more so with any other system we are trying to put together a small contained ecosystem (microcosm); and in doing so one has much more to learn about. It's the research, family discussion (and persuasion), shopping for, and finally placing each piece of livestock into place that drives some of us to keep reefs. More so than any other system I have ever owned, the reef tank, gives me relaxation after work, a quiet place to read in front of, and more so than not a quite place for the family to sit together, watch, sometimes talk, but to just share in a moment of appreciation! It's just my opinion, but as my wife says "It keeps me at home and out of trouble!"
