I have xenias in my 55g tank that are turning white and dying
. My water parameters are all ok except the Nitrates which are at 180ppm
but have been like that for about a year and a half. I have tryed everything from water changes to putting De-Nitrate in my Fluval. Anyone, Help?

do a 25 percent water change every 2 weeks. Also set up a refugium and put chaeto algae in it. Maybe you are feeding too much? get some more sand sifting things such as nassarius snails or tongan fighting conches. clean your sand about half an inch down. Also blow at the rocks since you probably have a lot of dead spots which may be why you have nitrates. if you have dead spots get some more powerheads.
What are your parameters.. dont just say they are "ok"
Do things slowly or you may cause a cycle so do a little bit each week.
How big is your tank? what is your stocklist? do you have a skimmer? etc.

Check your test kit, I have a hard time believing your nitrates are that high.

I know, I thought the same thing so I went and bought a different brand kit. It read that the Nitrates were a bit above 80ppm, so it was partly the kit that was wrong.
