I'm going to write a book of all the things (vacations, etc) we could have done with the money I am spending on this hobby. I figure I can make it into a movie later and play myself with Anna Kournikova playing my wife. I know she's not really an actress but it's my story and realism is of utmost importance:D

I know this lady that has VERY good luck with growing corals. She makes a little bit of cash selling frags to the pet store. Also you could try breeding some SW fish, although its pretty hard to do it, it can be done. :D

I charge all the kids in my neighborhood $1.00 to see my reef tank:D . For an extra 50 cents I let them hold my long spined urchin and bristleworms.

Seriously, I have an rose anenome that split and I sold one for $100. Now I'm hearing that that was too cheap and my new split will be more like $150 when I get ready to sell it.

man thats pretty good still for a rose anemone. My lfs has tons of em that split all the tiem and they sell em for 250 a pop. i get some cash for xenia frags, just cause the damn things grow like weeds, and now im propagating cerith snails. I asked the lfs if they would be interested in buying some, and they said sure, theyd buy em for their cost of .25 cents!!!! boy for that much money i could get a new car, and some shoes and....oh wait its tweNTY FIVE FREAKIN CENTS! after ten years maybe i could make some profit. For now i guess ill jus thave to keep selling my body to fund my hobby. ;) At least my customers are impressed with the tanks!;) oh man thats gross  <----thats me throwing up now!

ewww....givin' me the eebie-jeebies...
When you sell your xenia frags, do you just cut/scrape it off the rock or what? I'm new at this and wondered how you do cut a frag from a coral that grows well without hurting it...
*shiver*...still got the ebbie-jeebies

he he, sorry buyitjody. when i frag the xenias i usually take small live rocks and place them next to te main colony, within a couple weeks a new stalk will have grown onto the rock , and at this point i cut it with a pair of sharp scissors, isolate it in a clear plastic cup somewhere in a low flow area of the tank, watch it for a few days, then take it to the lfs. its worked well for me so far. i had to go to india to sell a kidney on the black market to get my 135, but boy was it worth it. Except sometimes it hurts to pee. is something wrong here?;) :D

Okay. I'm rolling. :)
I used to breed angels before I switched to salt. Very profitable.
Nothin profitable in this, though. But it's still worth it.

Selling frags is profitable. I also sell the occassional skimmer or calcium reactor to local people. Making these yourself also cuts down on the cost of the hobby.
