I have that same light fixture. It will work well for soft corals and some large polyp stony stuff. And no, it won't work under a canopy; too much heat build up could be dangerous. With that fixture you don't need a canopy anyway.

Thank you anyway, I will either have to keep looking, ask the dingy who sold it to me, or go fish only. He said he was supposed to bring me a cover to go under the canopy and never did, I didn't know what it was so never called about it.
I can't take my canopy off, well, I am an art collector. I love all mediums, and frankly this tank was planned to be part of my main art room. I have some very nice pieces in there, and it would look horrible if I took the canopy off.
Plus, I would absolutely GEEK should salt build up get on one. They are not near my tank.....but hey, I am a worry wart

No, I am NOT rich, I use to be an art director, before I became disabled. Several artist either gave me pieces, or practically gave them to me.....they charged me redicuosly low prices. I have one piece that is worth at least7 x's what I paid for it, and still rising :cheer:

Get a glass top and add the fixture. You won't have to worry about salt.

He is sending me the glass cover and bio balls, it seems I had already paid for them.....plum slipped his mind until he got a ten pound earhole from me about my last bill

then I guess I can figure out the right light. I am doubtfull about buying from him anymore, and take care of my tank myself :scared:

Glass covers can be very bad...
They trap heat and limit gas exchange.
Have you looked at retrofit kits? Depending on your canopy you can probably mount lights directly on the lid of your canopy.
