Reef Lighting???

I'm (a reef newb) planning for a new 75g reef tank and was wondering what lighting is most reccomended here first. My budget is somewhere between $200-$350ish. What is the best type of bulb or fixture out there? The tank demensions are 48"L X 21"W X 18"H
TIA

Feedback anybody? A few models I have been looking at are: 48” SunPod 2x150W HQI Fixture by Current USA, 48" Deluxe 4 x 110W Fluorescent VHO Fixture by Hamilton Technology, and NOVA Extreme 48" T-5 Fixture 8 x 54W by Current USA.

metal halide is the way to go if you can afford it.. which would be alittle more than you'd like to spend.
if i were you i'd go with the nova extreme PRO. its 54w x 6 with INDIVIDUAL REFLECTORS which the 8 bulb does not have. its a pretty solid light and you could keep just about anything with that.

Nova Extreme Pro 6x54 watt. I have the fixture and like it alot. You can find it for $353 with $10 shipping if you shop around. Another option is a fixture called the 48" solar t5 4x54 watt. It's only $169 you could get one now and another later two would fit on your tank, there only 8.25" wide.

Thanks for the feedback all. I'll consider the pro I'm just worried that i won't have enough wattage. What I mean by this is will the nova pro be able to sustain life in a 75 reef or will there be in adequate lighting in the 75 gallon? The deensions are listed above and the sandbed will not be very deep probably 2-4 inches deep.

If you use better bulbs, then the Nova PRO should work just fine for anything you wanted. Not sure how the price compares, but have you looked at the 8-bulb TEK?

I got a nova and I like it alot! It runs really quite and it makes the aquarium look really nice. Careful where you get it though. Some sites let you choose which lights to put into the system for no extra charge and I forgot about that.

A six bulb Tek is $470 with bulbs, then $58 for legs or $25 for the hanging kit. Unless you are gonna keep a full blown Sps reef the Nova Extreme Pro will be fine on a 75 gallon.

Sheesh, that price is high. My lfs sells them for much much cheaper than that, under $450 for all that you have listed there. If I ever get a 40 gallon breeder going this is the route I will take.

your thinking of a 36" fixture then not the 48" fixture
