i have one of these and for the last 2 months i have to unplug it for a day or so, the water going back into the tank will nearly over flow, not the collection cup but the outflow side.
it came with no instructions or anything the lfs that sold it to me has not really messed with them to really give me any advice
REEF OCTOPUS BH-100 HANG ON BACK SKIMMER this is the version i have and i was wondering if anybody out there might be able to help me outwith some info on why it wants to overflow
it works really good most of the time but i cant really trust it i dont want to come home to a flooded living room, this is my first skimmer.
thanks

These skimmers work great. Glade I could help you out. I've used a few hobs myself and find that this skimmer is perfect for the price. If you cant find the answer there I am sure if you posted they will help you out. Hope that helps.

Buffet,
I know your post was from a few months ago, so hopefully by now you figured out the problem. But just in case, or if anyone else has this problem, wanted to let everyone know what fixed mine. I was having the same overflow problem, and looked here trying to come up with ideas. I also blew in the airline tube, as that seemed an obvious thing to try. What solved my problem though, was removing the sponge inside the skimmer. Apparently it had gunked up a bit underneath and was restricting the return flow. As soon as I removed the sponge, voila!
I am leaving this out of mine, as it doesn't seem worth the overflow risk.
