Reef or Fish Only

Call me confused?? I have fish only plans as of now BUT...in order to have soft corals do you have to have LS or will CC do?? I am thinking in the future I might want to try a reef? I have one billion and one questions...as if you can't tell??!!! HA! What are easy beginner corals, anyway- or is there such a thing!!LOL!!

The easiest coral are mushrooms in my opinion. I would get the live sand, and live rock. Atleast 1 pound per gallon. I would also get everything you would need for corals right now, so you dont waste your money on a hood you will be throwing away, later on.

for either tank either substrate will do but most prefer sand, and or a deep sand bed (DSB) 4" deep as this will help eliminate nitrate buildup. The main knock on CC is that it traps detrious which create nitrates and it does nothing to reduce nitrates. more importaly is your lighting needs. If you may or may not start a reef you might as well start with sufficient lighting to at least have soft corals or LPS. Depending on your tank size a VHO or PC lighting system would be a good way to go and you could always add MH later when the SPS coral and clam bug bites you. Easiest starter corals are mushrooms as they are hardy, colorful, and cheap. Go slow, have fun, ask allot of questions along the way.

cc will work just fine either way. But like said it may cause a problem down the road if you don't keep it clean. As far as corals there are a lot of low light easy to care for corals. Just keep reading the MANY posts on this and you will find all you need to know.
