After losing 95% of my livestock in a tank mishap(lost everything but a very white bi color damisel) I want to get one of the reef packages the janitor it has a bunch of differnt inverts.
Scarlet Hermit Crab: 20
Blueleg Hermit Crab: 20
Turbo/Astrea Snail: 25
Nasssarius Snail: 10
Emerald Crab: 5
Coral Banded Shrimp: 1
Lettuce Nudibranch: 2
Has anybody bought any of the reef packages from SWF.com and what did you think of them?

i personally dont like crabs anymore. (to be in my reef) and i wouldnt want most of that stuff the only thing i would get would be the nass and astrea's but if you like the hermits and that type of shrimp then i guess its fine. But the nudi's will probably die after awhile cuz they will starve most likely.

Emerald Crabs are mean little things.
I have seen them pull red hermits right out of there shells.

I am sure I could go through the invert section and pick out what i like but it would be as much as the packages and with less stuff. Its a great deal for the money.
p.s. I saw a pair of mated banned shrimp how long after I got them would they mate.?

has/dose anybody ever buy the reef packages. If so tell me what you think about them? ...................................please only people who have bought a package before.

i like emerald crabs alot better than hermits. i have about 6 of them in my display, and another 4 or 5 in my frag tank. they don't bother anything. i'd be more concerned about the hermits wiping out the snails i just paid good money for.
most likely, the lettuce nudi, will be acclimated, dropped in the tank, and will never be seen again. nassarius snails are good for eating the leftover food, but be warned- they will take the meaty foods right out of your lps's mouths. they are a real PITA if you have lps and like to feed them.
cleanup crews are personal preference. i've seen tanks with barely any cleanup animals do fine(my tank) and i've seen other tanks with hundreds of cleanup critters, covered with algae and detrius.
i have about 10 snails (nassarius, astrea, and 1 mexican turbo) in my 195 gallon tank, along with those emerald crabs i mentioned, and that's about it. i don't have nuisance algae. it's not from the cleanup crew. it's from effective nutrient export.
keep tha tank clean, and you won't have a need for more eating, pooping animals.
as far as it being a good value, it's up to you. i'd pay good money for a piece of rock that came out of the ocean, all smelly and loaded with dead things. most other people wouldn't.

thank you I was starting to think..just buy it and see what happens.. but now I will save some money and get some emerald crabs.
I will get snails as I go. thanks again.

I am snails only even my emeralds were a pain kept moving my frags to see if there was anything under it

with the emeralds, one will grow very large in comparison to the rest. this is the crab that might harm the other crabs, although, i've not seen it in my own tanks.
no animal with pinching, cutting, weapons attached to their bodies should be trusted completely.

Get a mix of snails and crabs. I hate hermits and won't get them again. They steal food from LPS, eat my snails and are just pain. I just got a second green brittle, first one died from interector, and they are good at cleaning up. The only problem with them is they steal food from everything and have been know to take and eat fish. I had my first one for almost 2 years and it never touched a fish but ate alot of snails.

I have not heard too many good things about that star fish...for that reason they eat fish.......I guess it would be good for a thin out there #'s situation. The way my luck is right now it would eat everything in there. BAD
