reef plugs

I buy them. I read a thread on another forum and found a place that is pretty cheap and has nice ones. Their disks have a rough top of sand that makes it really easy to glue the frag to and they also have "rock plugs" that look like little live rock island. They are pretty cool and look good. PERFECT for zoo frags.
Highly recommend

I have a bag of 20 reef plugs that I won't ever use. Send me a few bucks for shipping and I'll send them your way.

I have been buying them....A baby's bottle nippel(had to spell it that way it was automatically deleted) makes a great mold for them....When I make them I'll post some pictures.......

buying or making plugs are a pain and need to be cured...coral cradles are by far the best, no curing, leaching, or waiting.

I've been playing around with just about everything, for sps frags I have to use the reefplugs otherwise the frags get blown all over the tank because of high water flow and then you get the whole sting wars thing when they start touching.
.
I've also cutup several pounds of tonga branch into 1/4" slices, these make very interesting frag bases as they are not perfectly round and the corals seem to love this as a base
.
White marble, I going to start a project today that is complicated. Involves using white marble as the substrate for zoanthids, it's easier to grow zoa's on marlbe and when you need to frag them you simply scrape them off and then frag them onto whatever base you like, same with my collection of colored cloves.
.
I've also have several huge heads of decorative, dead coral, various types that I'll bustup and use as a frag substate

if you use anything other then coral cradles make sure you cure them...you can even stick them in your toliet tank...but if you add a lot you're pH will be waaaayyyy outta whack.

I should also add that I store all my plugs in freshwater and change it maybe once a week, no matter what type of plug it is, is store them in water, why I do this, I have no idea?
