reef safe star?

Several serpent and brittlestars.
However ALL reef safe sea stars will have the identical requirements needed to keep a Linckia. None of them are easier I'm afraid. So if you can't keep a Linckia...others are not suitable either :(

And I rarely suggest people do :( If I recall from previous posts, your tank would be quite marginal (size, live rock specifically) for a Linckia, and therefor any other reef safe seastar

So, in your opinion, Linckias have very similar care requirements to the serpent stars? I've had lots of luck with serpents, but have never tried Linckias just because I've heard discouraging things about their survival. Are they pretty similar?

I think she was considering reef safe stars and serpents in different groups. Serpents/Brittles are easy to keep and reef safe. Other reef safe stars like Fromia have the same requirements as Linkia

I'm afraid not.
Seastars are very different from serpenstars. They are no where near in the same ballpark to keep. Not even close, except in terms of water paremeters. Otherwise they are not comparable in any way in terms of the requirements to keep them.
Brittlestars and serpentstars are typically reef safe (in most cases) and can be spot fed. Linckia can not typically be spot fed (along with their relatives, Fromia, Echinaster, etc) and often (very often) starve to death within about 18 months.

Ahh, thanks for the clarification. That's more consintent with what I have read and heard, I must have just misunderstood your first reply. It must have been the optimist in me
