reef safe?

To each his own... I kinda think an orbic bat looks pretty cool. Are these generally safe? Are they agressive fish? Good idea or bad? Wierd lookong fish that's kinda ugly and graceful at the same time <img src="graemlins//silly.gif" border="0" alt="[silly]" /> :D

Ask risc over in the aggressive forum. I remember seeing a few posts over there on bat fish. I don't think it is as much an "agression" issue as it is that these guys get HUGE.
 
batfish..............they get HUGE!! you really need a tank that is tall and long at the same time for them. they are reef safe, however, is the reef safe to them? that is the question! alot of other fish like to pick at their fins and stress them out. also, it may look nice now,but, they loose their color as they get older. then they are kinda just a grey nasty color.

Look at about a 500 minimun for an adult. Basically, they look like a spadefish without stripes when they are older. They lose all that cool finnage as they get older also. <img src="graemlins//confused2.gif" border="0" alt="[confused2]" />

I work at the LFS where i live here, and right now we have a Teira Bat.. from what i know they get about 2 feet UP to DOWN lentgh Top of Fin to Bottom fin..
THEY ARE NOT REEF SAFE... they supposedly eat anemomes and soft corals..
