Severl sites online offer packs of starter animals to deal with algae and with detrius (sp). My question is that after I go through my cycle will there be enough of either of these things to accomodate the inverts or should those be added later?

Yes, typically after the cycle is when you get a diatom bloom and start to get algea growth. Those critters just love that stuff.

most of the critter packs are offered with way too many cleaners for the size tank that they mention it is good for. i have seen some of them that say 100 scarlet hermits. i am not a big fan of hermits. i feel they are to aggressive towards snails even tho people say put plenty of empty shells in for the hermits. it doesnt matter they will still go after the snails.
when i bought my cleaner package i built my own. there is a site where you can build your cleaner crew instead of buying them pre built ones.
for my cleaner crew i got: astrea snails, cerith snails, nassarius snails, turbo snails, serpent starfish

Im sure devil got his from the same place as me. I have no regrets getting hermits it is cool how mutch they have grown. I got like 30 or 40 snails almost 20 diffrent crabs and a star fish. IT is really good cuase you get to make your own and shipping if free. You only have to spend like $60 to get free shipping.

I am pretty sure I know where you mean... Thanks for the tips. I just did not want to get "X" number of inverts and there not be enough food for them.
