Reef tank: 4ft long,

Ok, Folks.....
I notice that there is majority reefist that have ranging 55-120 gallon tanks and are all known as a 4-footer tanks.
Not just "I", We would to hear why you chose the certain size?
Ok here is the poll and it would be interesting to see what gallons win the highest vote.

Went with the 75 because:
18 inch width works well for a reef.
90 gallon tank only picks up 4 inches of depth (generally at a much higher cost than a 75).
Extra high tanks have poor surface area to tank volume ratio. That isn't good for oxygen exchange.
Larger than that created a weight problem in my situation. That's a lot of weight over 4 feet of floor.

Ditto but more width is better than height in a reef. so i would at least get 24x24(120) but I wish I had 6" more :) the 30" look alot nicer

I have the 150 and really like it. I am running 2 250 watt MH and 2 110 VHO Atinic. The ligting is fine for the 30" depth. You can stack the live rock high and also have a nice depth front to back. the others might be fine too. I don't know, have a good one

MR angelfish -- how did you set up this poll? Id be very interested in seeing the same kind of poll for depth of DSB, use of plenum and use of protein skimmer...

When you establish new topic. Click New topic.
Post some story just like this...... Then scroll down and you will see "Yes I want to post poll" Click in that box. Then submit it (Do not submit reply without click the Poll box) and it will lead you to create the poll. After create the poll. Submit that. Thats it.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
I will wait forward to see your poll about DSB. Excellent thinking!

I went with the 55 becuase i wanted the 75, but someone found a 55 at a garage sale for $20. If i was to do it all over again, i would pass on the 55, and spend the extra money on the 75. the one problem i have AGAIN and AGAIN is that there is not enough room front to back. there is not a lot you can do with 13 inches...

I would choose the 75 for corals and a 150 for fish only. I like my corals in shallower water and I like my fish to have room to swim.
