Reefers....what does it take?

What does it take to run.....say a 75 gallon tank with just basic corals you see in most tanks like anenomes, polyps etc.? I know the lighting you need, but how much harder is it to run one of these tanks. Me, I have LRWFO and it is easy. I try to do water changes once every 2 weeks. I rarely test my water cause it never seems to change with constant water changes.
What about reef tanks? do you have to test the water almost everyday? What other PITA things do you have to do to run a successful reef tank?
I am eventually going to start one once i get the $$$$ and the knowledge.

I dont find it any harder. I do bi-monthly water changes. Check my water now and then, feed the corals once and a while. I never add supplement, except some marine snow once and a while.nut I only keep soft corals. shrooms, leathers, polyps, zoos.

Some half decent soil, good grow lights and some good seed stock, nice sunny weather and a reliable source of water should do it......later you need some papers and ;-)

Drugs, I am about in the same place as you. I have the FOWLR going well for about a year (lost mny first fish in 8 months today). I am getting the lites this week. I started checking my water more accurately for PH, Alkalinity, Magenesium, and calcium. When I can keep that all well and stable I will get my corals.

thats what i gotta start doin more, is checkin the water conditions. I really only check it unless i think somthin is up.....which is rarely. Everyonce inwhile ill have my LFS check it for me cause im to lazy. I just hate putin little drops in a vile and waiting 5 minutes while twirling. ha ha

I change my water weekly (15 gallons) once and a while I'll skip a week and do it bi-weekly..
You should do waterchanges weekly or bi-weekly at least though, to keep a nice clean healthy tank
