Any ideas, suggestions or tips for painting these
Going on my 06 Honda 1000RR track bike. You still running yours?

Got a color theme picked out?
I would paint them for you if you were closer. I outfitted myself with an entire new set up for painting plastics last summer.
Going race replica or just custom design?
Good timing to mention mine. Yes, just this past weekend I pulled her out of the garage for the first time in months and gave her a bath. I made quite a few more changes since I last posted pics of the Gixxer.
You do realize you are back on the poop list again right?

I figured I'd make your list!
I have no idea what I want to do. I'm looking for ideas. I have never painted anything so I don't even know what to do. They come already primered but I figured they might need a little prep. Some 800 grit wet sand paper maybe? Is it possible to do a descent job with rattle cans? I've seen a few at the track that didn't look bad at all. Everyone says use the Duplo paint from the auto parts store if I go that route.
Post some pictures of your bike up! I'd like to see what you have to it.
Here is the 06 1000RR as it sits right now before I put the pastics on it. Replaced the radiator, several brackets, straightened the forks and seat rail along with the exhaust. Still waiting for the Black Vortex rear sets and the Zero Gravity double bubble racing screen. Also, the new 08 1000RR that replaced it and the ZZR600 in the middle of an oil change.

You don't have some artistic friend? Come on. You have to know one "aspiring" artist. Pay em a few bucks, and talk em into designing something for you...

I have talked to a few friends that have some talent but they are too detailed and elaborate for what I want to do. They can design some great ink and airbrush stuff. I need something simple that still has some cool looks to it. Most of my friends that run track bikes just paint them one color and get some sponsor stickers to dress it up. Some go two colors where they may paint the lower a different color or just where the number plates go. Others just rattle can them.
The idea is that if you crash it, it's easy to repair/replace the plastic and paint it back up again for cheap. Money has to go into performance and handling. Ohlin forks and rear shock run about $4,000.00. Nothing I need for a long time but will eventually.

I agree with simple layouts when choosing paint for a race bike. Easy to replace/repair as needed. Bikes are much easier than cars to paint.
Hang some plastic like a shower curtain in your garage to form a work area. Floor to ceiling to create a defined workspace. Add a small fountain to pull the lint and dust from the air inside your work area. Any small indoor home fountain will do this just fine.
Closed off area with parts inside and fountian running. Just blast it with air a few times to make sure there are no hitchhikers on the plastics. Again wait for a few to let everything settle.
Put on a respirator and a buni suit and go to town.
Almost HARD to screw it up since the fairings are so small.
A car's hood or door bottom can be a nightmare. A set of fairings will instantly give you a false sense of being a master.
PM me your addy and I will ship you a few HVLPs if you want to borrow them.

That's a very nice offer RFB. I didn't know what a HVLP was until I googled it. I figured I might want to pick up one for myself as I could think of several things I could use one for. I'll PM you my email address as I have a few questions. I want to try this but I'll have a lot of questions I'm sure so email would be easier.
PM coming.
