hi, still looking for a setup for a 72g bow front
im planning on getting a 36" sump to just put my heater/protein skimmer in thats about it. but im gonna get the 36" hang on reefugium. it comes with like 20lbs of miracle mud and micro algae. and 2 PC 13watt lights and pumps and all. would this work just as good as a sump with lr ls and micro algae. let me kno and if u never seen it ill post a pic

I know a lot of people who like these systems, but if you ask me a DIY sump with refugium would work just as well without the high cost.

the place that sells this said skimmer is not good it takes out the elements and everything this REEFugium does.
would i trust them and dont get a skimmer and just get a huge reefugium
remember im planning a reef tank
so should i not get a skimmer like they said and just get a big reegugium like 36" in length?

I am no expert but first thing that I learned and I think everbody on this board will agree....Dont trust your lfs! I would say 80% are there to rob your money, dont get me wrong I am sure that there are many awsome lfs's I have one in my area he is expensive but he is honest and well knowledged.

I would have to say that is un true. I am fairly new to this hobby but as far as I know most reefers only use a skimmer and a good homemade fuge/sump that they made themselves out of a XXgal tank.
All in all if you want to start a reef imo...buy a good skimmer get a 20-30gal tank to make a simple fuge/sump that you would plumb for under your main tank and lots of lr and ls would get you going.
I have a 55 and here is how i made my sump/fuge made out of a 10 gal for your instance just make same in bigger tank being you would have lots of room with a 72bow
