I'm not sure what kind of firearm will fit in a 5 gallon bucket with the lid on.
Certainly a hand gun, or a sub gun, but no remington 700 that I have seen.
MEK is a solvent that is used for fiberglass manufacturing, but I doubt its usefullness for stock stripping. I would avoid soaking the stock in anything.
