refractometer help

[guppy slayer]

I just recieved my refractometer today and I think its faulty. When I look through the eye piece and adjust the focus the scale inside is leaning to the right at about 20 degrees. The bottom of the prism end is flat and paralell to the ground.
Now this is my first time with such device and just wanted to make sure and see if this is normal before proceding any further into replacement or repair.

Sounds like its broken to me. When I look in mine I see a light blue on the top half and a dark blue section on the bottom. A scale of S.G. runs up one side and PPT on the other. The two colors meet in a straight line across the scale. HTH
