I purchased mine from here, 40 bucks. Works fine.

Either of u remember which one u got from there? I see the prices from 15 bucks to 45
I bought the cheapest one they had. Which was 40. It has a calibration nut which I like better than having to get out a screw driver.
It was this one, https://www.saltwaterfish.com/Refractometer_p_135.html. And now that I think about it, it was on sale at the time, or I had a coupon or something...
Oh and don't worry about buying the calibration solution, RO/DI water will be fine. In reality I've tried to see if I got a reading out of tap. And I couldn't tell a difference.

Are the PH meters a pain to use...i heard they are
What have you heard? You just need to make sure the orb never dries out. It also comes with calibration solution to make sure you keep it calibrated.

This is the one I bought about 6 years ago, and I have been in an aquarium hiatus for the last 5 years. I am setting up again and pulled out the ol' refractometer, but cannot find the directions. Would you have a copy you could scan and email me with. Much appreciated.

I beleive you calibrate them all the same. I think this article is okay to post:

Except the scale is different for marine compared to the article. You will be looking for the 1.025 range when you test your salinity.

Thanks, I also found the directions. I put them under the packing for the refractomemter so I would not lose them, I guess it worked.
