Refractometer

Hi all,
I just got my refractometer last night and realized I don't have clue! It looks like a cross between a lightsaber and a microscope!
I am assuming you put the water on the glass tip and look at the result through a light in the eyepiece?
Is that right?

ok...first check to see if it came with an eyedropper and a little screwdriver..
next store the refractometer in an ambient room temperature, take a drop of RO water and put it underneath the little plastic flip cap, and shut the flipcap. then take the screw driver, remove the little rubber black piece on the refractometer, to expose a screw. then look into light source and if the blue line is on 0, no need to calibrate. if it is off of 0 turn the screw until the blue line mathces with the 0 line. when they do its calibrated. place black rubber cap back on the screw and clean off prism, and drop salt water on to it and check your salinity.....

Carshark,
Perfect. It definitely did come with those items. As soon as I get back I will test it.
Thanks!
