I purchased a refractometer about a month ago, but I have no idea how to use it. I was excited to get it, I shipped it to where I work, so I opened it up and looked at the instructions, then I lost the instructions at work. It is a blue one, can anyone help me? I have no idea how to calibrate it and use it.

Room temperature ro/di or distilled water, place a few drops under plastic plate, watch out for bubbles, use mini s c r e w driver into the little s c r e w, line up the blue lines in the view scope looking at a light source, once lines are lined up, wipe away distilled water with paper towel, then place on test water and look at light source again, NOW wa la, see specific gravity!

yes..RO/DI water should have an SG of 1.000....the lines that were referred to are the 'blue line' (shaded reflected light area) with the 1.000 line on the refractometer

If you want it to be accurate buy calibration solution online for like $2 that is calibrated to 1.025 s.g. at room temperature.
