refuge refuse

I need to cut some of the macro out of my refuge and I was wondering about something...does anyone have a technique for separating all the pods out of it? I feel bad losing all these guys when I crop and was hoping someone here had some brilliant secret for saving their tiny lives.

what are you doing with your mico-algie? most people i know feed the weeded out calerpa to the tank. tangs and other fish love to snack on them and if you throw the calerpa into the display the pods will be eaten too. thats one of the coolest parts about having a fuge in mo. not only does it clean you water it also feeds your fish.

Yeah...I do feed some of it to my tank, but the fish don't seem too into the taste of grape caulpera. I also don't like that it gets pulled into powerheads and such and returns all the nutrients back into the water. I feed some, but I am looking for a way to get the pods off for the stuff I do not feed. This may be a pipe dream.

you can get some off by just shaking the caulerpa off as you pull it out...aside from that yes, you'll loose some.
