Refuge/sump testing question???

Has any body ever attempt to test their refuge/sump by shutting off all the electricity like a power outtage to see if the anti sphon hole,or check valve is working properly so that when a real power outtage does happen the tank wont overflow?

I would consider it necessary to do to check your design

good thinking! I am about I buld one and have't thought about that yet..... any more good advice?

You will even if you don't "plan" it...(shut down)...
NOBODY...will set up a compleate system (skimmer, overflow, closed loop, return pump, fuge, top off, and other periphials) in one shot...NOBODY will put all these parts and peices together, glue up the plumbing, fill it with water, turn it on and walk away...NOBODY...
You will be testing the backwash/powerout capacity one way or the other..whether you want to or not...
