Refugeium - lighting fot it

Today I went to one of my fish /reef stops , you know the addiction $300 today . well bought some caulerpa and mangrove, the salesman said 24/7 lights on the refugeium whats the reason .
He said it will reproduce in a way that what was ever absorb will leach back in the tank and be a problem , any thoughts, confused

Caulerpa 'sporulates' when it becomes stressed. The entire algae strand will convert its entire mass to gametes and this will flood your tank with light green 'sperm' swimming all around consuming oxygen.
24/7 lighting will not eliminate this threat but it can reduce the chances considerably.

? do you find that a refugeium is a positive to water and alage control, besides my skimmer( 90 gal glass )reef/fish
Mangroves what do you think and in short what does caulerpa do to the tank in general.
