I was just wondering if a refugim would be good to use to start a feer tank in a 55 gallon. Aslo I am currently using a current or corallife light that has 65 watts. 10,000k daylight and 460nm actinic. Is this light going to do the trick if I start a reef tank. The refugim I am new too and have no clue how or why I should do it. I am currently using a, and dont laugh, rena filstar xP2. Just woundering if I should try to do a refugim or not since I wanna start getting corals and make it a reef tank.
Thanks Hunt
P.S. Here are some pics of my tank tell me what you think. If it is suitable for changing into a reef tank.

a refugium will benefit any tank, the canister is good if you clean it every few weeks to keep nitrates down, if you only have 2 65 watt pcs you will be limited in coral choices

Thanks ....any more information would much helpful as well. Anyone know how much it would cost to build your on refugium. Any info on them would help me decide if I should try to change this tank to a reef tank.

Theres alot of DIY fuge posts on here. Try the search function on the top of this site.
I had my LFS install the baffles on my 20 gal fuge and the whole thing cost me less than $100. But that doesnt count the sand, cheato and equipment.

I picked up some acrylic and weld-on from a local sign shop.I built a 50gal. tank with a 30gal. refuge and a sump for $110 in materials.
