Refugium: Day One Questions

I started my refugium today!!!
Whats the difference between reef mud and live sand? Which one should I do, and how deep?
What macro algae do I use? Should I put pods in there(the ones in the bag)?
Any other suggestions?

cheato, some sand and lr will do. the miracle mud imo isnt really miracle at all.

will this fuge help my green hair algae problem?
How deep should the sand be?
Oh yeah...should I get rid of my bio balls when adding the fuge??
