Refugium Light?

What wattage and style flourescent tube should I buy for my refugium?

Depends on the size of the refugium and what u plan on keeping in there.

I am using an old 30 gal glass tnk with baffles. I am going to put in crushed coral, chaeto sp, and grape calupera. Sorry for the spelling if I got it wrong.

Your can probaly go with pc lighting about around 175 watts.

get a all american flood lamp. u Tubes 65watts thats = to 500watts.. thats what i bought today.

For what he is putting in there he really doesn't need that much lighting.

well its only 65watts but its suppose to be just like 500watts. and its only 40 dollers hehe
so just make it so ur chaeto grows like a weed heh

So your saying it has the intensity as if it were 500watts. Still you need the right spectrum.

well yea.. but i read about some people that use floodlamps and there fuge is kickin butt...

The fixture mikegray is talking about is a outdoor plastic housing with lens 65 watt 6500k daylight PC. its perfect for a small fuge. $ 40 at HD with bulb.

I bought the same fixture at HD .... (6700K 65W) the thing is great!!! fits perfectly over my sump and caulerpa grows like crazy under it. the fixture contains a ballast, the replacement bulb is less than $10
oh yeah, the housing is meant for outdoors and is plastic... perfect!!!

thats right... Lights of America is the manufacturer...
I have also seen a 45W light by LoA very similar to the 65W at WAL_MART... maybe uses a little less power.. it may have been $5 less in price..

I use the one from HD too. And it works great.
