refugium lighting

Is an 8 watt florescent light strip enough for a HOB refugium? I holds about a gallon of water.

I would see about using a 60w. equivalent compact florescent (18 watt I think it is)instead. You wont get a lot of algae growth with just 8 watts of N.O. florescent. You can try it, but it probably wont be that great.

Thanks. It has 5000K in a T4. I wanted something low profile. Those clip ons are so bulky and stand out. I guess I can take it back I kept the box and receipt thank god! Lol...
