Hi all, i am starting a 120g reef with a 30 gal refugium and have gotten conflicting info on what types of algae to put in it ie. caluerpa (sp) cheato(sp) etc. And what substrate and how much? Any info would be appreciated. thanks

cheato, hands down!! It has a few advantages over the caluerpa and works just as well.
Substrate is more of a matter of opinion IMO :D. My 40g refugs has about 1 1/2" of live sand and lots of rubble rock.

Cool, that is what my LFS guy said to do. Lots of cheato, 2 inch sand bed, and rubble lr. Begining to trust him more. He has been right on so far and not trying to gouge me. He has best store in town anyway. Thanks for the info reefnut.

Hi guys, good info. I have a wet/dry under my 90 gal overflow. Could I (if i have the room ) put a 10-20 gal tank underthere also, and use that as a refugium? Also if i did, would i need special lighting? And if i have a DSB in the main tank, would I also need it in the refugium? Thanks guys

Hey ReefNut, He has been really honest and even got his supplier to lower his cost so he could match the price I got for my lighting on the internet. I check pretty much everything he tells me here on this site. And he has been right on and straightforward with me so far. Gotta go my tank is being plumbed as we speak. thanks for the help.
