Refugium question (also appears under Reef)

I've had a fuge for past 2 years but never see any new growth. It is fed from DT by gravity but passes first through a micron filter bag that I added to the piping, before the water passes through the center vestibule. Do I have this set up correctly?

once again i ask what was the reason for installing a refug.

I think that everyone thinks that's the standard in saltwater fish keeping. Have a sump and refugium.

The word comes from refuge. A place safe from predators as you well know. Its obvious benefit other then that is added water volume. If you add higher forms of algae and your water parameters are fine you may in fact be starving the algae you add to your refug just because you believe you have to have algae present in it
