refugium question...good water or bad?

I am plumbing my fuge, and it will be seperate from sump. My first thought was to have the water come straight from DT, but I have read that some think its bad idea. Instead they opt to feed fuge from a tee off the return. I would like opinions on which you would chose and why...
Thanks in advance.

I have my sump before my fuge, that way on the return pods can get sucked up into my DT. A drawing would help as well.

I am worried about excess waste in the fuge, but i do plan to have a Clean up crew in there. I would put a valve right before the inlet to fuge, to control fuge flow.

Looks good to me. I would consider a valve in the blue line, a place for mechanical filer media and also couplings to disassemble if and when necessary Cap the ends of your vertical red lines drill holes in the PVC rap with blue/white filter media and secure with zip ties. Make the vertical red lines removable so you can clean and or replace the filter media
this once agian is just IMO

Thanks for the input. I have filters caps for bulkheads which I will cover with some sort of filter media, this is all I have planned for stopping big waste to enter fuge/sump.
So as far as the inlet to the fuge coming straight from the DT, it is in popular opinion an "ok" idea?

I like crazy!
On a side note, in the sump where does evaporation occur? Or technically, where would I see the water level drop? The lowest point in the sump?

My friend this is how I set up my high and low level marks on my sump. I filled my DT to the level it will start to crest my overflow boxes. I then put water half way up my sump/refug. I ran the system to change the lines. I now added water to the DT until I once again brought the level of my sump to the half waypoint. I now added water and turned off the pump to see how much back flow I would get until my siphon brakes took effect. I continued this process until I was sure I had the most volume of water in my system WITH OUT overflowing the sump/refug with the pump off. With the tank running I put a mark on my sump marked MAX. I now started to take out water with the system running until I got to a point just above the suction side of my return pump. I marked that point MIN.
I hope this helps.
This is just my own procedure.
Oh sorry. The sump is the best place to Monitor you water level IMO
