refugium question

I live near the atlantic shoreline. My question to you is if i want to set up a refuge under my 55 can i go to the local beach for some shoreline sand for the base sand of the fuge? I would get a finer sand for the top layer. :notsure:

I would be careful about using sand from the beach. The reason is there may be impurities there that could harm your tank. You might be better off just using store bought sand or trade from a fellow fish keeper.
