Refugium Question

This is my first experience with a refugium. I noticed that refugims in general are cloudy. Can anyone tell me why? My little in tank fuge is now cloudy, the rest of the tank is crystal clear. I assume it has something to do with gases being released but I can’t seem to find any info on exactly what is going on in there.
Keep the explanation simple if you can for me please .

Should clear up, really depends on the substrate you have in there, the flow through the fuge and how it is stirring up everything in there, where and how the water enters the fuge.
Got any pictures?

Be careful if you rely heavily on a check valve. If you get sand trapped in the valve it might not shut.

Okay I am laughing at myself now...It is a very even film of algae all over the little tank, the water itself is crystal clear. I just checked and the algae buildup is on the outside not the inside. So that will no doubt become coralline covered soon. It’s made of plastic and that seems to get coralline faster than glass, I sure can’t take a mag float to it.
The light shines from the top so I suppose it will be alright to just let it be covered and let the CUC and tangs eat what they want off of it.
So the cloudy look I see in refugium pictures is also algae buildup?

so if i wanted to make a fuge then all i have to do is get a small ten gallon aquarium and put live rock and flow water into and out of the tank

I thought you were 14 and your parents took all your money

A sump can be sectioned off making space for your skimmer, and another section for a refugium.

Income tax time, I want to get it all set up at that time, I have too much on my plate to try and do it now. I hope the little one inside the tank will do for a band aid.

Well now you’re a resourceful young fellow aren’t you. Folks toss things out because they don’t work and fish tanks leak..so be sure to double test everything. Also use bleach to clean stuff up really good and really rinse it and let it air dry.
Now I am going to toss this thought in, I had teens before. Make sure the people are not in the middle of moving and you just grabbed their stuff thinking or claiming it was tossed out. Because it sure sounds like an awful lot of good stuff to be just thrown away.

oh yah i wouldnt do that i would never ever do that....... and i no tanks leak i dnt even take something that
looks like it has bad silicone .......and the bleach thing..... i thought u werent suppose to use cleaning chemicals in aquariums both fressh and salt........yah and i live in the city of chicago 5 minutes from downtown so rich people live there and they throw out things bedcause they break.............. the coralife light were thrown out because one moonlight didnt work .......i also now a lot about electronics(i go to robotics and i am an remote control freak)so i took i9t apart and fixed it. but the worst thing was that wen i found the coralifes there was a cracked tank with 5 marrooon clowns that were nnot boyant and gasping....... poor fish lols

i also will say that i didnt find this all in one year.......like i said ive been in the fish keeping hobby 5=-years so im constantly looking lols

i wish it was only that simple

What else do you need to put in a refugium? The tiny critters are in the rocks, sand and Macro algae...I need to know because I plan on doing it and I thought those were the only things I needed. Not including the lights and a power head.
