I can't fit 12" wide right now, because of the skimmer. If that was gone from the back, I could.

Get a CSS 65 and forget the filter, how much liverock do you have? Should have at least 60lbs IMO and if you do 10% water changes weekly you should be just fine with only the CSS skimmer. I used this system on my 35 Hex without any issues. Fish and Corals happy and healthy.
