Refugium + UV sterilizer

I am going to set up a refugium for my 72 reef and currently have a skimmer and UV. I figure that since I am to be "cultivating/growing" beneficial microorgs in the refugium, that the UV would kill 'em all off before going back to the tank. or would I UV the flow before it hits the fuge?

i think you will find that most people are not running UV on reef tanks. i dont anyway.

yah i have the same question. i have a UV and a skimmer and plan to run them both. i have thought of a solution though and it is to run the UV sterilizer only 12 hours a day instead of all day. or maybe every other day. something like that.

I have always ran uv on my reefs and always have healthy fauna in the fuge and tank. I uv ahead of the fuge.
