Refugium

I need some help picking out a fuge for my 55g. I want to get a mandarin so I guess I need a refuge for the copepods. I dont have enough room under my tank to put one. I was looking at the intank refuge but do not know much about them. I was wondering if it will work and I was also thinking about making my own that will some how be in the tank on the top just above the water. I do not have enough money for an expensive refuge because Im only 14 so keep it reasonable. I need some suggestions.

If you've got a shelf or something above the tank... you can make a fuge out of a rubbermaid storage tub. I used a little 5 quart container to make a little one for a frag tank I ran. Simply put a little pump in your tank to lift water up into the fuge, then drill the tub and install a small bulkhead to drain water back to the tank. This will actually work very well because pods from the fuge won't go through a pump to get back to the tank, so you'll get more surviving pods making it back into the tank.

instead of a fuge, add more live rocks. more rocks mean more pods! a hob fuge by cpr isnt bad either. it costs about $130.

Do you think the one for $49 will work? Also I have a protein skimmer on my tank already so I guess I will have 2. Is that alright.

their built-in protein skimmer is junk. i would get the bigger one with a pc strip light from that site. just add rocks and cheato.
