Hello....
Le me just say... I Am really new at this. So my questions might be a little out of this world.... I would appriciate anyone's help...
I am PLanning on having a coral tank as a display tank.(58Gal) so i was wondering what kinda of filtration would be best?
If i have a refugium do i also need a wet/and dry system or vice verca?
I would like to know if anyone had any advice on building a refugium? WHat kida of plants to put in it or what not?
( I have been reading alot of this forum for the past days and also looking at some videos on YouTube on that.. So any information will Help....)

hi.
i think about 70 pounds of live rock plus a sump with refugium, and a good quality protein skimmer will do an excellent job for you.
no, you don't need a wet/dry.
a refugium is simply a place free of predation, where pods can grow, along with macroalgae(the popular choice is chaetomorpha).
i would keep the refugium in your sump. you can do a search for refugiums, and find plenty of plans for construction of a sump with refugium.
is your tank "reef ready"?

Just to have it said
Fish will help feed the corals.
And runing a skimmer on a tank wirh only corals may not be a good thing some corals are filter feeders and need some Protein in the water.

Well if you incorparate a sump wrefugium you should have it all down. to make your tank look nice and work right all you need is a sump with a protein skimmer and maybe some bioballs for bio, sponge for mechanical, and carbon for chemical. The refugium is a place where nitrate, ammonia, and phosphates absorbing plants grow and keep parameters in check. Like Mr. X said its a place where pods can grow so you could have a mandrin if you wanted. Also have the heater and skimmer in the sump, and if your worried about the phytoplanton/zooplanton getting sucked up, just spot feed it close to the corals or tempararily shut off your skimmer. Also the refugium can provide you with a source of natural plankton so its good to have one. I hope I helped
