what would anyone recommend for the flow rate on a 10 refugium for a 55gal tank. I have some live sand (swf.com) arriving in a couple days and want to purchase a return pump.
thanks

I have been told on here that it is 8-10 times an hour you want to turn over the water in your tank. SO for a 55 it would be 550. Don't forget to look at the pump because there is flow rate loss for every so far vertical you go. Good Luck.

I've read on some posts that if your refugium is separate from your sump, you ought to go with a slower water flow than your main circulation. I don't remember what post or how slow of a flow to go though, a shark would know alot more than me.

Refugium slow rates are generally slow. On the order of 50 - 100 gph. The slow flow increases contact time so macros can better absord nitrates from the water flow. Also, when you're dealing with a 10 gallon sump to much of a flow will cause quite a mess with your sand.
Good Luck!
