Are refugiums always part of a sump? Or is it possible to make it a viewable tank as well? Like up next to your main display tank.... Just curious Thanks...
Perfect, ty for the pictures... I was just curious since there will be critters in there as well. Might as well look at them now and then....Is your sump part of your fuge or separate? if seperate how did you plumb it?
I run a wetdry as my sump with my skimmer and uv the water
the water flows overflow box/wetdry/sump/ pump/T/half to the tank half to the fuge. water from my fuge flows back into the sump via free fall drain.
If I had to do it again I would a seprate pump for the fuge so I could add more power with out screwing with the dt

slower?
thats only applicable with mangroves and curlupra. chato is a fast flow maccro algea and needs to tummble with water. weater water is flowing 200 gph or 900 gph chato will only pull what it can eat. I followed that rule when I first setup my fuge and my chato looked good. but when I added a cupple power heads to the fuge I started cutting back 50% every 2 weeks and selling it to my lfs
Ive lost my cammara in my last move but is fairly easy to explain at the exit of my fuge I drilled a hole installed a bulhead and connested the hose, allowing the water to drain out into my sump
Where does it drain back into? the area where it goes back into your main tank? still new to the SW game and a bit confused on the whole plumbing game...
Still new at the plumbing thing, but is this a basic drawing of what i want. Please let me know if I have something going in the wrong direction or if something is placed in the wrong area..

my fuge is acrylic but you can drill into glass with a dimond bit. check the diy thread there are quite a few people who have done it themselves

looks good but id throw some baffles into your fuge so you can allow the water to flow up through the fuge tumbling the chato
