Now, are these fish even worth trying? Or are they just flat out too difficult!? I am wanting one, but I have not heard the best things on them. But they are sooooo beautiful!!! LMK

There not easy. Dont get one collected from the Philippine Islands. Try to get one from the Red Sea.
and make sure it looks healthy and eats at the store.

Well I was going to order it online. But I am wondering if it is worth trying. Like does it have a slim chance of eating? I dont want to waste 90 bucks, but I am also determined to keep it healthy.

You will be very lucky to see a regal angel eating in a pet store. Regals are hardy angels if you can get them to eat. The best thing to do is get them in a reef tank and start feeding them foods with garlic. But you may go through a few before you get one to stick around.

Well, at 90 bucks a piece, I think I might just tell my LFS to order it to see if they can get it eating first. I will be very happy then. I guess I will give one a try! Thanks!

Well i got a red sea regal and he died in a week....i bought 3 fish at the same time, a blue face, a harliquin and the regal...he is the only one that died..and i feed garlic...i'd say stay away...mine seemed like he wanted to eat, and eat a piece of something a night, but they seem to be very passive eater...i read a post of some guy that feed his with a turkey baster...i'd say get another angel, you'll prob just loose money buying a regal

As said, not easy.
System should be large, healthy, estabished and Rea Sea compatable, higher salinity, tempetures, ect. Red Sea Regals will have bright orange/yellow chin and belly.

I've heard the same, I know I want an Angel someday and was pretty much set on getting an Imperator. Hubby says he likes the look of the Red Sea Regal Angel better and they don't get quite as big. If you do order one online, I would not get one without a guarantee since you can't see if it eats or at least looks healthy.

I got a small Red Sea Regal in early December. It was approximately 2.5 inches when I got it online. It is a hardy little guy! Eats frozen Angelfish preparations with sponge, loves Mysis shrimp and just abot any frozen food I put in there. He even nibbles on the Macro algae in the tank and on the live rock too.
Other people I know have purchased Red Sea specimens at the smaller size of 2.5-3.5 inch range and had 100 percent success rates. They need a good sized tank and lots of live rock with few caves.
Mine also eats out of my hand!

i just purchased a 6+ in. regal from a friend. so far all that i see it eat is spong. i have always kept orange, white and yellow sponge in my reef tank. when i feed my fish he always comes out to see what is going on, and is out most of the time. i have not seen him touch anything but sponge. i have only had him for a few days, and will let everyone know if and what and when he eats. he is from the red sea, and very plump. i am looking for some tunicats to try. i have a 6 in. magestic and a 5 in. annularis angels, and thay all get along fine, so far.

8-25-07: i got a reply from someone a few days ago. he recomended that i blanch some brocilli, i did as he said, and to my surprise, he started to eat it and so did the rest of my angels and tangs. my regal and majestic angels are the most passive fish i have. all doing well.
