? reguarding mushroom leather

I got my first leather. It is not attached to anything, they just had it in a ring of PVC at the LFS. The base is well healed but very uneven. I know I need to use toothpicks and rubber band/string to attach it to a rock. What I am wondering is if I should leave the base as is or cut it so it is even and makes good contact with the rock? I am going to have to do some rearranging in the tank to make more room for it! Hope it doesn't grow too fast.
The sailfin tries to get into every picture. Camera hog.

For some reason Keifers is logged in on my computer and I just noticed. So for those of you who know his tank and wonder why it looks different, that is why. Sorry.

Thank You Meowzer, I am not normally a big fan of leathers but I really liked the shape and colors. You know I have the rule that nothing goes in the tank without QT first, but I did break that rule for this because the QT is full and I almost never find leathers I like. I removed 3 buckets of water from the display tank and rinsed it really good (and obviously threw away the water) before adding it. I am praying it removed all the nasty ick bugs, I about had palpatations putting it in there.

Wow.... looks good in your tank! That monster wouldn't fit in mine, mostly because most of your NEW corals are still in the 56G...... and yet you don't want to share those with SWF community??? Shame shame shame.........
Come on..... these people want to see them too!!!!!!!
