It was just a given in our house . You didn't even share it with the family .
I don't think it has the same meaning anymore . You know it used to be you voted for who you thought was the best candidate now its vote for who is the most popular candidate. Vote for who has the hip and cool ideas . Vote for the person you can say I voted for this guy and look at how great he is .

I think most people are horribly uniformed and making such as decision based on very little actual facts I mean its hard to trust any media. Then we have the whole country saying go out make a difference do your part. Thus people are preasured to act informed and caring about politics, oh I like him for his poicies or how can I vote for him he is promising everything.

Good ol days? I am 49 and ever since I can remember it was a pretty open topic except for in the work place and church. It isn't like political yard signs and bumper stickers just came along in the last few years.

A teacher at my daughter's school (8th grade teacher) gave all her students the assignment of writing a three page paper about who your parents are voting for and why. WTH?!?!?
It's a good thing my child does not have that teacher, I would be livid! My child would not be doing that assignment. I figure they'll get enough complaints from parents that none of the kids will be doing it.

How about a 1st grade class going on a field trip to a gay wedding. How's that for a slap in the ole face.
