Remora Aqua C with Rio 800

I have a Remora Aqua C skimmer with a Rio 800 from about 2 months.
I read wonderful reviews about this product but I do not find it as efficient as I thought it would be.
Should I consider replacing the Rio 800 with the Maxi Jet 1200? Would that be an improvement?
Also please take a look at the photo, is the pump installed correctly?

Your pump is indeed installed correctly. I run a Remora as well. I oringially got it with the Rio 800 and it worked fine. About 3 mos after I got it the pump died on me so I replaced it wth a MaxiJet 1200 and it greatly improved the performance.

MaxiJet 1200 is the way to go!!!!

The Rios are notorious for underperforming and going bad early and without warning.
Replace with the MJ1200 ASAP!!!! You will notice a difference almost immediately.

I had a rio 1400 on my non pro and it worked better than the maxi 1200 it came with.

I believe that you're missing the air intake tube. It connect right below the other tube in your picture. The Rio needs to take in air to work correctly.
