Remora C protein skimmer

I got a used remora skimmer and for a week or so it worked very well and had a nice dark skim but now its suddenly having problems. The skimmer is producing way too much foam or its just too wet because the collection cup overflows after maybe 5 minutes of it running and has a completly clear collection inside of it. The bubbles are also overflowing and going back into the tank. I haven't added any chemicals to my water or moved the collection cup from where it was positioned which is very high on the skimmer. If anyone could give me any advice for fixing this problem I'd appreciate it but I'm having a feeling that I may just purchase a new skimmer this week because I don't want my fish to get sick from a high bio load.
I've cleaned out the skimmer as well but the skimmer worked for a few days after I cleaned it then just went down the crapper from there. I used paper towels and hot water to clean it out so I'm not sure if I broke it by doing that as I don't really understand the physics of how the skimmer works but I assume being acrylic has something to do with it since that's what they all seem to be made out of.

Try cleaning it again with a white vinegar and hot water solution then rinse it really well with fresh, hot water and give it another shot.

Which pump does it have?

sounds to me like your just pulling in water which would mean that the airline is clogged somewhere. try taking the little black thingy off the intake of the pump and use a toothpick to clean out all the little holes and rinse it real well with vinegar. also try replacing the section of airline tubing. that should get ya going

its a mag 3 pump. I already cleaned out the whole thing with a old nylon drum brush so I wouldn't scratch it up and washed it out with vinegar and nothing.
