Hi Guys,
ON advice on the board I have a turkey baster now with which to remove some annoying apstasia! Can someone tell me how do to it? DO i squirt it with liquid calcium (Kents - which i have) and then suck it up? Cheers guys,
Tim.

that's what i did...2 treatments and all gone. hope the diatoms are coming along ok too? (btw, do you use a refugium? that might be a decent way to stabilize/add more water to the system and thus help alleviate your diatom problem. and i don't think salinity has anything to do with it, though 1.021 is a tad low for inverts.)
oh, and i just used a test kit baster-type thing...not a turkey baster, just how big is this aptaisia!! :)

Tim,I have always benn successful using boiling water .Just squeeze the bulb right on the sucker and release the bulb right in the same place to suck in the boiled remnants. I've only had to do it a few times over the years, but it always worked.

A few mililiters of 100+ degree water will quickly difuse in the rest of the water and make an insignificantly small difference in temperature. We are talking fractions of one degree in the hundredth place. Unless it is a half a gallon nano or something.

It didnt work! The suckers are still there! I need to get rid of them before wednesday/thursday as I want to get a coral or two then! What can I do? Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks,
Tim.

Take a test kit syringe, fill it with some kalk wasser and inject it right into the aptasia. I have used a syringe and bioling water and it killed all of mine.
Also - I have a 5 gallon and the 4 ML of boiling water did not effect the tank's overall temp. Though the syringe was pretty dang hot to hold on to!!

I used Kalkwasser, just a small amount in the end of a syringe. Shot right into it and sucked what was left out with the baster.
Kalkwasser is a calcium supplement, you might gice the liquid calcium a try though. Good luck.

Could you use seachem's calcium? And also, could I use a syringe, like for a diabetic? Got lots of those around. And how long before you can suck it out with a turkey baster after injecting it? Thanks...I only have one...but I know they are monsters.

if they've curled up that's good. just keep hitting them with it everytime they open up and eventually they will be gone.

i don't know how big your aptasia is...but it doesn't affect mine...i'm only using one test kit syringe worth every month or so...(and actually using less each time as the lil buggers disappear)
