Removing GSP

If you want to save it to sell it then you will have to find a way to pry it off or break off some of the rock,
If you just want to kill it you can "smother" it with some aquasafe putty, it is a two party epoxy putting and if you put it on top of the GSP it will kill them.

Thank you, thank you! I hate to kill it but it is taking over. I don't have an lfs that takes frags so I don't have anything to do with it. I do have a tank with standard (came with the tank) lighting...could it live in there? If it can I'll transfer some of it to that tank. That tank has two 18 watt bulbs.

Eat what? Veggies? Live prey? How old are they? I have bearded dragons if you have any questions I can help with. You can email me so we don't tie up a fishy post... momofdnz@hotmail.com

Oh....duh!! I haven't tried yet, I'm gonna get some of the rocks out tonight and see if I can pry it of with a little screwdriver. If not I'm gonna get the putty stuff Birdy was talking about.

Hey alyssia,
Just a thought, depending on how much of these guys you "smother" with the putty, you could end up with an ammonia spike from the dieoff.
Something you might want to consider.

:scared: :scared: I didn't think of that, thanks! This stuff is a pain! It's spreading everywhere. If I take it out of the tank and scrape off as much as I can and then rinse it really good with SW do you think that will be okay? I thought I read on here once that GSP can release toxins (but I'm not sure).

I believe its the zoos that can sometimes release toxins, not GSP's.

That should work fine, Its ashame you can't find something to do with it. I had the same problem with Xenias taking over everything. I took mine to the LFS attached to the rock and just traded it for some LR they had in stock. I ended up getting some nice new pieces of LR and weeded out the xenia!

I always see people posting on here that their lfs's take frags but I only have one lfs that has coral (and it's almost an hour away) and they don't take frags.
It sucks living in the boonies!
I do have another tank with standard lighting (came with the tank) would the GSP have a chance in there?
