Removing heat and humidity from basement.

Hi all, I have just moved my 125g. from my office to my basement at home. I like having the tank at home, but one problem, all the heat, and humidity. The temp. in my basement is about 86 degrees, the humidity around 60. I have a dehumidifier that is running all the time. That also puts out a lot of heat. I installed a 6in duct to the outside, with a fan in it but it just is not big enough. How is everyone else keeping the heat and humidity levels to a decent level in your basement?

When I built my house I knew I would have tanks in my basement so I had the HVAC installer put in three seperate air exchangers. Many people do not have air exchangers at all in their homes. If you are one of those people you can put them in yourself or have a professional do it. If you do have an air exchanger maybe you should think of having one put in specially for the room with your tank.

Air exchangers take heat out of your home/room and exchange it with cooler air. Which is why it is called an air exchanger. In my neighborhood an air exchanger is part of building code. Some places have not adapted it yet.
A fan in your bathroom to suck out the humidity after you take a shower is basically an air exchanger to give you an idea. But a REAL air exchanger is that plus a lot more and on quite a larger scale. An expertly installed air exchanger will keep your basement cool no matter what the circumstance.

Well, I have an air fan ventilator in my bathroom, and it still too hot wo the AC going.
Simple, invest in a chiller for your tank. Problem solved.

Chillers for an aquarium will not remove humidity levels from a home. What you need is somewhere for the air to go and cycle instead of standing there dead in the basement and getting hotter and hotter. An air exchanger or some type of well setup fan exhaust system will work great.
