Removing 'stick on' thermometer adhesive.

When I bought my tank off craigslist, they had one of those crappy thermometers stuck in the center of the tank on the front, which was hideously looking...even more then the adhesive that was left behind. Its never really bothered me before until now. I can't remember why I didnt just turn the tank around, but I know there was a reason for it...so thats out of the question.
I was thinking maybe a some hot water/steam a box cutter blade? Has anyone ever done this before? I have no tank inhabitants yet so no need to worry about that.

baby oil is a good adhesive remover
we used it to get some nasty glue stuff off our floors once....

Goof Off will work no doubt. A bowl of hot water, a rag and a razor blade probably would as well.

I would try lubing the adhesive with water and a razor blade and scrape it off, or if that doesn't remove it totally a bit of Goof Off and then the razor blade back over it. I think both will work.
