Replace My CC

I'm starting to understand what has been said about CC retaining debris. Although my nitrate levels have remained low and steady at >.03, I'm starting to have realistic concerns. As I don't really want to disassemble my tank to sift it on even an irregular schedule, I'm considering a change to DSB.
Is that process as straightforward as it sounds, just take the rocks and fish out, most of the water, and scoop the CC and replace with sand? Then reverse the process to add fish?
Next, how would I "seed" the sand with whatever has inhabited my CC? Or just start over?

I was told to just scoop the cc out and replace it with the dsb. Didn't have to take the fish out. You probably would need to take out the rocks too. You could seed your dsb with some ls or your lr might even seed it. Might want to ask someone elses opinion on that one though.

2 options
one put the cc into stockings, then put the cc filled stockings on the sand bed for a few weeeks.
or 2
remove a small portion of cc and replace with sand, doing this iaout every week and a half to 2 weeks, until done. doing so in 1/4s or 1/3s works great.
Either way will seed your sand bed, the latter will help to not to have to remove things and will help to insure against an ammonia spike.
HTH and good luck
